I am a retired general and vascular surgeon. BA Samford University, MD Duke University, Surgical Residency LSU Medical Center, GI Fellowship Royal Infirmary Glasgow, Scotland with Sir Andrew Kay.
My surgical career was at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital (400 beds- affiliated with Duke University) in Concord, NC. While there, I served as chairman of the Department of Surgery and later as the President of the Medical Staff. I published 5 professional articles during training.
While in Concord, I attended the First Baptist church. I taught Sunday school there for many years. I served as a deacon and chairman of the board of deacons. I made many short-term mission trips to foreign countries including, Honduras, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Haiti, and China. I led 6-8 short-term medical mission trips to the Dominican Republic.
I served on the board of Solid rock Missions.
We now attend First Baptist Church, Opelika, AL.
I am married to Mary Nell Crook. We have three children and eight grandchildren. I love to fish, hunt, and garden. If it makes a nut, fruit, or berry, I grow it. All our children are active members of their churches and are in leadership positions.
