John Warren Thomas

Dr. Thomas earned his Ph.D. in Classical Studies from Loyola University of Chicago in 1993. His dissertation was on Tacitus and Roman Law. He has taught at Loyola, The University of Illinois, Iowa State University, and Xavier University in Cincinnati. At Iowa State he also served as the Director of the Foreign Language Learning Resource Center. From 2011 until 2018 he taught at Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, where he and his wife shared the Golden Apple award in 2017. Dr. Thomas and his wife of more than 30 years enjoy vacationing in Rome, as well as in Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado, and sometimes Florida. The photo of Dr. Thomas was taken in the Roman forum, as he was standing in the doorway of Rome's Curia. Photo credit to Mrs. Thomas. She and Dr. Thomas are enthusiastic photographers. The cover of the book "Hardworld" began with a photo taken from the outside of the second floor of Chicago's Art Institute, and the cover of "Song of Vesta" is from a photo he took at the House of the Vestals in Rome.

Dr. Thomas and his wife are finishing up the second series of Caisra and Aulus books, "Murder at the Theater of Marcellus", which should be available soon.

A famous writer once told him to write what you love and you'll love writing.
