Penelope Flynn

Penelope Flynn is a speculative fiction author and 3D graphic illustrator who focuses on adult-targeted, mixed-genre short stories, novellas, and novels. Horror, Science Fiction, and Fantasy have all found their way into her works, which move fluidly from modern speculative fiction through AfroRetroism and AfroFuturism and into a variety of sub-genres in between. She is one of the contributing authors of Zane's Caramel Flava II, the Dark Universe anthologies, the well-received Steamfunk anthology, and SLAY: Stories of the Vampire Noire.

An avid reader and a voracious viewer of horror, sci-fi films, and TV since childhood, her exposure to the writings of Frank Yerby as a teen was probably the impetus for the desire to write adult-targeted, hidden, and parallel history fiction. Being musically inclined came with the territory of living in a musical family, and she still enjoys all types of music. She dabbles in a variety of crafting endeavors that sometimes defy categorization but generally tend to be an extension of storytelling. She collects dolls, and is a baseball and basketball fan. This foundation, as well as mothering four 4 adult children, the joy of living with her husband/bestie, and working as a legal professional, in one way or another, all tend to find their way into her literary works.

She has two published novels from The Chronicles of Renfields series Regarding Koescu and The First Book of Ramona, and has curated and published the anthologies Blerdrotica I: Sweet, Sexy and Special Dark, and Blerdrotica II: Couples' Therapy. She also co-hosts and moderates the Discussions From the OTHERhood podcast Sunday afternoons at 12:30p CST on You Tube.
