David E Stensvad

David Stensvad was born in Billing, Montana in 1931. He spent the first 4 1/2 years on a ranch near Melstone, Montana. In 1935 he and his family moved to Oregon and settled just east of Portland in a farming area until 1951. At this time the Stensvad family moved to Walla Walla, Washington. Beginning in 1950 David began his college education of four years and then seminary training for four years. Further education after graduation from High School in 1949 was not on his agenda, but the Lord had different plans.

During his second year in college, he was reading Romans 10:14 which reads, "How shall they hear without a Preacher?" This became of life verse guiding David through the many years ahead. Between his third and fourth years at Dallas Theological Seminary, he was invited to Hinckley, Minnesota to work in a Bible Camp and preach in small churches in the area. It was there that he met Darene Yocum. They were married on May 17th of the next year in Hinckley, Minnesota after graduating from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas on the 13th of May, 1958.

The Lord has provided ten churches for David and Darene to minister in different parts of the country. The atmosphere of the communities varied from retirement, farming, city, mountain, and resort areas. They considered God's calling a privilege to be able to minister for the Lord in these communities. It was in 2010 that Darene had a stroke and David turned the focus of his ministry, to care for his wife. Then in March of 2016 she had another stroke. In 2017 David and Darene moved to Marshall, Texas to be near his youngest daughter and her family.

Darene passed away on June 25, 2017.

David and Darene were truly blessed to be married for 59 years. She served as a faithful and tireless pastor's wife. As a result of this marriage, four children have been born plus 11 grandchildren and one great grand child. David continues to find great joy serving the Lord in his local church and studying God's Word.
