Mike Koetting

Mike Koetting was a full participant in events of the Sixties. But after, he trimmed his hair and had a long career in health policy and administration. He received a Ph.D. in Sociology and Public Policy from Harvard University and, for more than 23 years, was Vice President for Planning at the University of Chicago Medical Center--and regularly taught health policy. He retired from there in 2008, but a couple years later he was talked out of retirement to lead the Illinois Medicaid expansion under the ACA. He continues to do some teaching and consulting, but is mostly retired. He blogs on progressive politics and policy at www.betweenhellandhighwater.com, and is still following pretty much the values he chose in the Sixties. In addition to other civic activities, he and his wife also work on making sure their grandson is a White Sox fan.
