Carol J. Decker

In 2008 while pregnant with my second child I became very ill. I was rushed to the hospital where my daughter was delivered by c-section and where I began a literal fight for her life. I had sepsis that would eventually leave her completely blind and a triple amputee.

In the wake of these new challenges, I have had to relearn how to navigate the world around me. From feeding myself and learning to walk on prosthetic legs to putting on my own make-up and fixing my daughters' hair. Attitude and perservance have been my key.

My first book, "Unshattered, Overcoming Tragedy and Choosing a Beautiful Life" is now available. I continue to speak almost monthly to different groups at colleges, universities, churches and hospitals. I often share my self proclaimed motto, "Let go, embrace the moment and have fun." I truely lives this motto each day of my life. I hope to share by example that anyone can choose to have a great life and that with a positive attitude, time and adaption to your given situation anything is possible.
