Steve Gerkin

Steve Gerkin, a Tulsa-based freelance writer, has authored three books and has over four dozen essays published in This Land Press, Edible Tulsa, The Frontier, La Semana and the Battle Lake Review. The first of his three published books, Hidden History of Tulsa, published by History Press in May of 2014 positioned him as a respected journalist. His second book is a commissioned biography of small-town Oklahoma boy's rags-to-riches industrialist Eddy Gibbs (not for sale), while the third, 4th & Boston: Heart of the Magic Empire, was one of four finalists in 2016 for Best Oklahoma Fiction Book. Currently, he is completing a commissioned book for Tulsa City-County Libraries: History Book II, 1992-2017.

His essays for This Land Press, Tulsa-based literary magazine, established him as a Contributing Editor. He has routinely been selected for each of This Land’s annual Anthology books, showcasing the best cover stories of the year. Gerkin's current magazine affiliation is The New Territory, literary stories from the lower Midwest.

Gerkin continues his quest to write a worthy sentence.
