Bill Byrom, PhD, is an industry thought leader in the area of eClinical product strategy, electronic clinical outcome assessments, and decentralized clinical trials. With 30 years industry experience, Bill is an experienced scientific expert and the author of over 80 publications, including a leading industry textbook on electronic patient-reported outcomes. Bill has served for two years as the Vice Director of the Critical Path Institute’s eCOA Consortium, where he helped to steer cross-industry activity related to the use of electronic solutions to collect PRO data. At the time of writing this bio, Bill is serving on two industry expert task forces within ISPOR, and is a member of the scientific leadership board of the Digital Medicine Society (DiMe).
Bill has considerable expertise in eCOA implementation, the requirements for migration of PROMs to electronic formats, and supporting the use of “bring your own device” (BYOD) within clinical trials for ePRO data collection. He is also experienced in the use of wearables and sensors to develop and measure novel endpoints in clinical research. He has published a number of key works in the eCOA field. In addition to his industry role, Bill is a senior visiting professor within Nottingham Trent University's Medical Engineering Design Research Group.
