I have spent thousands of hours counseling individuals, couples, and families over the past 15 years. I dedicated the first half of my counseling career to serving in community mental health clinics where I worked alongside the marginalized and severely mentally ill. In other words, I have seen it all.
I have witnessed the dark recesses of the human mind -- too dark for most of us to think about -- as well as the beautiful moments of overcoming extreme challenges and seeing authentic change and growth. It is my experiences with so many clients over the years as well as my personal journey to health and healing that led me to write The Hard Work Of Happiness.
All of us are on a our own personal journey. One pivotal event that occurred in my life was the big shift in my career. I attended the University of Southern Mississippi where I received a bachelor's degree in Banking and Finance. At 26 years old I wasn't living up to my potential as an accountant and I wasn't happy. After a year of soul searching I decided to leave accounting for a career in psychology. Graduating with honors from The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology was the beginning of this new journey for me.
I have been trained in the use of the ENNEAGRAM personality assessment and find it extremely helpful when working with clients. I am a TYPE EIGHT. My Myers-Briggs is INFJ.
I also make art from found objects I find on my walks in the woods.
