I grow up in a small village in Iran. I was a dreamer and interested in the mind, the brain, philosophy, psychology and physiology all my life. As far back as I remember, I wanted to be a thinker and a healer. At age 5, I decided to become a doctor. Since childhood, I loved to read. Even now my favorite hobby is to sit some where that I can study and think for hours. I graduated from high school and medical school as the top student. As one of the best in Iran, I was awarded a scholarship to study abroad. I trained in the neurosurgery department at the University of Toronto. I also did a fellowship in Pediatric neurosurgery in the Hospital for Sick children in Toronto, Canada. After graduation in 2002, I moved to the United States, and have been practicing adult and pediatric neurosurgery in academic and private institutions since then. I became sick and had surgery during my residency. (I tell this story in my book). This experience, connected with my study of medicine, the physiology of the brain and the function of the mind, led me to discover the power of thought. I believe my ideas can change how people think about their emotional and physical health. I want to teach people how to keep their brain and mind healthy and how to use their thoughts to have a happier, healthier, more peaceful life.
