Hugh Murray has always been interested in religion and, unlike many people, feels religion has a place in most conversations. A graduate of Catholic grade school and high school, he’s been a member of Jesuit-led discussion groups for more than 50 years. He made his career in business and engineering, but religion has played a large role his entire life.
Murray’s passion for history—Europe, the Jews and Christians, and more recently Islam—comes from his mother, whose deep personal faith and curiosity about history (she pursued a doctorate in European History) was instilled in her children at an early age.
As American society has become more secular, Murray has become less secular, learning more and more about his favorite subjects. His book, Understanding Catholicism, is the product of his lifelong pursuits.
