David Cayla

David Cayla is Associate Professor of Economics and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Management at the University of Angers, France. His research focuses on the economics of the European Union, institutional economics and the history of economic thought. He has published several books in France, including L'Économie du réel (De Boeck Supérieur, 2018), Populisme et néolibéralisme (2020), Déclin et chute du néolibéralisme (De Boeck Supérieur 2022) and La Fin de l'Union europénne (Michalon 2017, with Coralie Delaume) and two books in English (Populism and neoliberalism, Routledge 2021 and The Decline and Fall of Neoliberalism, Routledge 2023).

An active member of the French association of heterodox economists “Les Économistes atterrés”, he advocates a science of economics that is more open to other social sciences and equipped to understand institutional issues.
