R.J.D. Ferguson

Hi, I’m Robert Ferguson, writing as RJD Ferguson — a lifelong reader, fantasy author, and unapologetic genre nerd from Long Island, New York.

I grew up immersed in epic fantasy and classic science fiction, drawn to the works of Tolkien, Moorcock, Le Guin, McCaffrey, Jordan, Asimov, Dick, and Clarke. I dabbled in writing when I was younger, but life had other plans first: family, work, service, and a career. The stories never really went away, though. They waited.

By my fifties, the ideas had become too loud to ignore, and I finally began putting them on the page. That journey led to Son of Anger, my first novel, published in 2018, and now continues with Awakening of Shadows, the second book in The Alfarbani Series.

My stories are rooted in the themes that have always fascinated me most: identity, loyalty, sacrifice, power, and the choices that shape who we become. I’m especially drawn to flawed heroes — men and women who are not chosen because they are perfect, but who are forced to rise because the world gives them no other choice.

When I’m not writing, I’m usually reading, building worlds, or running a tabletop RPG campaign — another excuse to keep telling stories.
