Meredith L. D. Riedel

Riedel is a writer and historian specializing in early medieval Byzantine political thought, particularly as influenced by religious commitments. She is Assistant Professor of History of Christianity at Duke University's Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina (USA). She teaches graduate courses on the history of Eastern Orthodoxy, the Crusades, and Byzantium and Islam. She holds a doctorate from the University of Oxford, a Masters of Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Masters of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary. She also currently serves on the Governing Board for the Byzantine Studies Association of North America.
