Gerhard Meyer, writing under the pen name whitedesert was born in Johannesburg in South Africa in 1954. Gerhard never really knew what he wanted to be, or become, and lacking any real tertiary education started off working in the property construction sector and without much planning or even thinking about it, over the years became a physical asset management professional, with retirement just over one year away. Gerhard is married to his best friend and soul mate Riana, and living with her in Cairo, Egypt as an expatriate working for an Egyptian Multi-national company, with their cat "puffy" and hoping to enjoy many more years together, God willing. The plan is to travel through our own wonderful country South Africa, and doing it slowly, and thoroughly. The book River of Dan is his first attempt at a novel, and he does hope that readers will enjoy River of Dan. This book represents almost a life long dream, its a story that I have carried with me for a long time, and did not really have the courage to write a full-blown novel. Just like most novice writers, I suspect, I have made some mistakes with the editing, which I only discovered, to my horror, once the book was published, so I suspect that many of the science fiction "fundi's" out there is going to have a field day with me, when they discover a reference to the speed of light referred to as sound, as one example. I will leave it there, and see how many readers discover the other two "little" mistakes.
