Kathryn (Kate) Wilson was born in Milwaukee, WI and grew up in Longmont, Colorado. She received an M.A. and Ph.D. in Folklore and Folklife from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in History at Georgetown University. After working for 12 years in public history in Philadelphia, she joined the faculty in history at Georgia State University in 2008. Her research interests lie in immigration/ethnic studies, public history, American cultural history, gender studies, oral history, and material culture. Her book, Ethnic Renewal: Space, Place, and Struggle in Philadelphia’s Chinatown, was published by Temple University Press in spring 2015. She has published on nineteenth-century women’s clothing practices, on patterns of ethnicity in the mid-Atlantic, and on presenting ethnic cultures in public.
