Peter JW Noble

Emmy® Award winner, Peter JW Noble MBE is the inventor behind digital photography. In 1966 he created the first image based on the ‘active pixel’ – the genesis of the modern image sensor used in everything from movie cameras to mobile phones.

Born in England in 1940, his is a life disrupted by world war, and severe illness at an early age, Air Training Corps, educational achievement, invention, flying gliders, entrepreneurship, extreme sports, consultancy, Round Table, Catenians, Rotary, school governance, managing parts of Poundbury – Prince Charles’ vision of a new town – and most important for him: family.

421 - the number of critical days is the first book on the pandemic is now available on Amazon and Kindle by me., Peter JW Noble MBE. Called 421 subtitled ‘the family in the pandemic and the issues that came to light’.

This book and story began when I reflected on how the whole issue of the Coronavirus would be seen in the future to the population, and how the world might change. The first two cases in the UK were recorded in the UK on January 31st, 2020. So, I decided on March 21st to write a daily diary, written at the time, day by day, which might be useful in future – one never knows. So, this starts back in early February 2020 when Barbara and I were looking forward to what has become an annual couple of weeks in Tenerife. When we arrived back matters moved quickly.

Hence the daily diary, 421 days written on the day.

The summary after the diary is my personal view and analysis of how I saw the way the many factors in our society dealt with it and the issues. The family, news readers, NHS, climate change, population, health, welfare and self-interest, plastics, working at home, vaccines, local government, and political opportunism. As I turned 80 during the 421 days – it allowed a distant view!

The book My Imageination covers well over a hundred years, from before he was born, to present day and into the future, as he looks forward to what is coming in the tech world and beyond.
