Eva Lorraine MacWilliams

Eva MacWilliams was a quiet and shy child when she was younger and always felt like 'Where's Waldo' in a sea of people. Her parents had split up when she was younger and she always felt alone after. At school the 'mean girls' (as they were called) used to come from other schools and bully her and other girls. They tore her down with both sticks and stones but she stayed strong and would write stories of love and adventure in her notebooks to escape reality. Eva became a single mother just before grade twelve started and had to drop out. She decided to stay home and raise her son and eventually got married. When her son started school full-time she decided to go to college. She looked through the career book and saw the Journalism Print Program. Eva loved to write but doing interviews scared her. She did the Mature Students Test and was in. They told her it was her answer to the question about, 'what is your greatest accomplishment to date,' her answer was, 'giving birth to her son'. The first semester was difficult and she almost failed but she persevered and graduated two years later in 1987. She couldn't go on her placement when she graduated because her husband decided he wanted a divorce so Eva stayed home and did court reporting. She says it was a wonderful learning experience. Eva has done some freelancing over the years and written columns for two local papers. She felt empty after writing a volunteer column for 14 years for one of those papers and was forced in to retirement so she decided to start writing her own books and now has five books published on Amazon. Quite the accomplishments for a shy, young girl.
