As a High School Math Teacher, I've often been told that I am not at all typical. I love to paint, play the piano, sing, and write. I will do math to earn my keep, but I have always been more artistic than analytical.
When I was in college I got serious about writing, and did a lot of random writing in multiple genres - Mostly romance, but with a significant amount of historical romance, science fiction, and fantasy thrown in.
Real life got in the way, and I ended up putting aside my writing for some time. I did express my need to create by writing textbooks for my two math classes, but I never got them formally published, even though one of the textbooks was all the way into its sixth edition and included a companion work book and a teacher edition. I also did some work for American Bookworks and co-authored a few different non-fiction titles. While I was proud of my many creations, the Holy Grail for me was writing and publishing my own fiction. A Novel. I had a fantasy short story solicited and accepted for a fan-fiction magazine, but I still had the desire to write a novel!
Perhaps there is some connection between celestial events and what happens here on earth. On the day of the Solar Eclipse (August 21, 2017) I became inspired to write my stories about Estolia and try to publish them. I finished my first draft of Volume 1 by November 9th, Volume 2 by December 31st, and Volume 3 by March 10, 2018. The Tales of Estolia will be at least eight volumes and my goal is to have them all written and published by December 31, 2019.
Aside from my passion for writing, and teaching Math, a little more about me: I live in Southern Oregon with my hubby who I met in 2000, and my dad, along with ten geriatric cats, a flock of chickens, and a mostly white California King Snake. I have three children and two grandsons. I have a BS degree in Statistics from Brigham Young University, and a MS in Education from Walden University. I've been a public High School Math teacher since the year 2001. Once I have finished writing about Estolia I hope to publish both my textbooks as well as many of my original short stories in a variety of genres.
