Josef Schubert

Josef Schubert, Professor Emeritus, University of Regina was born 1925 in Berlin, Germany. From 1946-49 he studied Bible and Jewish History at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem (BA with distinction). At that time he also worked as counselor in school for emotionally disturbed children. This led to further studies in clinical psychology (MA, New York University; PhD. University of Liverpool).

At the University of Regina (Saskatchewan Canada) he was one of the founders of the of the secular department of religious studies where he taught a class on Judaism in addition to his duties in the Department of Psychology.

Since 1968 he has lived in Canada. He is married, has four sons, ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. His hobbies include swimming every day, playing the recorder (folk-music, Baroque and Renaissance) playing duplicate bridge and reading and travelling.
