Rae Elliott Williams

Rae was born and raised in Vermont and earned a degree in Recreational Therapy, for the first 10 years working for the State of NH in their adolescent program, teaching ways to develop alternate coping skills. As an artist she got involved in the Arts in the School program and eventually took a certification program in Expressive Arts Therapy.

She spent the last 10 years of her career in a private hospital working with a local college interning movement and music therapists. She was instrumental in starting one of the earliest #MeToo movements by encouraging clients to display their art depicting their perceived abuse and injustices, even though at the time this was not an accepted practice.

All 8 Matilda stories came out of her empty nesting process, using writing as a tool to express feelings. The focus is on helping kids to realize that creating the life you want begins with taking responsibility for everything, only then do you have the power to change, with the hope that opening the minds of the youth will improve our collective future.
