Freeden Blume Oeur is associate professor of sociology at Tufts University and co-chair on the Board of Directors for the Boston Consortium for Graduate Studies in Gender, Culture, Women, and Sexuality. He studies the interplay of masculine power, neoliberalism, feminist theory, and Black politics. He has two books: Black Boys Apart: Racial Uplift and Respectability in All-Male Public Schools (U. of Minnesota Press, 2018) and, with Edward W. Morris, Unmasking Masculinities: Men and Society (Sage, 2017). Blume Oeur's research has also appeared in the journals Sociological Perspectives and Socius.
