Mehtap Karakaya

Mehtap Karakaya is a Mediterranean-born writer, teacher, and translator who believes that every language holds a different key to the human soul. With a Master’s in ELT and a background in English Literature, she has spent nearly two decades bridging cultures as a professional interpreter and the founder of Babel Language School.

From the coast of Turkey to the streets of France and the United States, Mehtap’s life has been a journey of linguistic and personal discovery. While her early writing career focused on education—notably her book Turkish for Foreigners—her recent work dives into the deeply personal waters of motherhood and survival.

When she isn’t managing her e-commerce ventures, she is a dedicated mother and a chronicler of the "scars and rainbows" of life. She lives in Antalya, where the sea serves as a constant backdrop to her writing and her life with her daughter.
