Sandra Cruz-Pol

Dr. Cruz-Pol is a Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at UPRM. She was a member of U.S. National Academies (NAS) Committee on Radio Frequencies (CORF) until 2019. She was also an appointed member of the NAS Active Spectrum Study. She was the Program Director for the EARS (Enhancing Access to the Radio Spectrum) program at NSF where she was also a Spectrum Manager. She is a member of the IEEE FARS (Frequency Allocations for Remote Sensing) Technical Committee. She was appointed by NSF as member of the U.S. Delegation for Spectrum Management to the ITU in Geneva and was the NSF Representative for the Interdepartment Radio Advisory Committee (IRAC) at the U.S. National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and for several subcommittees including the one that deals with Frequency Allocations, FAS.

La Dra. Cruz-Pol es catedrática en la Universidad de Puerto Rico en Mayagüez en el Departamento de Ingeniería Eléctrica y Computadoras. Obtuvo su doctorado estudiando gases atmosféricos con satélites. Su maestría fue en UMass y su bachillerato en UPRM. Obtuvo los tres grados con la distinción de Suma Cum Laude.

Luego de numerosas conferencias y artículos sobre percepción remota y cambio climático, fundó la Iniciativa Campus Verde en 2007 para concienciar a cómo vivir en armonía con el planeta. Desarrolló un curso en línea en Sostenibilidad Ambiental. Recibió el premio docente de investigación de la NASA en 2001. Es miembro del comité de RF de la Academia Nacional de las Ciencias desde 2010. Fue miembro de la delegación de EEUU para Radiocomunicaciones en la ONU.
