D E Williams

D.E. (Dollie) Williams was born and lived most of her life in East Texas, just outside of Houston. She worked in the Texas Judicial System for twenty years before taking a job with a software company in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Dollie started writing at the age of ten and eventually shared her mystery stories with friends in the sixth grade. Writing continued as a background hobby through college, but a few attempts to publish romance novels and sci-fi short stories met with rejections and cooled her enthusiasm for publication. She worked for years tweaking her sci-fi story and refining the characters, unwilling to let it go until her friend, Mary, was diagnosed with metastasized breast cancer. Mary declared the only thing on her bucket list was to own a copy of Dollie’s published novel.

After eight months of waiting to receive a rejection from a major publishing house that liked the story, thought it was good, but “didn’t fall in love with it.” Mary’s condition deteriorated and Dollie made the decision to self-publish. With help from talented friends and the support staff at CreateSpace, “Child of Chaos, The Chesan Legacy Series, Book 1,” made it into print. The first proofs arrived just four days after Mary’s death in October 2015. Mary knew they were on the way. When Dollie told her the release date was set, Mary said it didn’t matter if never held the book, the whole point was to get it published.

“Child of Chaos”, dedicated to Mary Cellino, went on to win the New Mexico Arizona Book Award for Best Science Fiction in 2016.

The author still lives in Albuquerque, working for the same software company, and writing the remaining books in the Chesan Legacy series – when she’s not hanging out in the Marvel Universe or reading fresh sci-fi/fantasy and mystery novels.
