Balaka Basu

Balaka Basu is an Instructional Designer and Blogger. She runs two successful blogs Trina Looks back (www.trinalooksback.com) and Wanderful (http://mumbong.blogspot.com/). She loves to write memoirs, short stories and travelogues. She also regularly contributes at Momspresso, Women’s Web, Bonobology, BuzzingBubs, Babychakra and Yahoo Travels. Many of her blog posts have earned awards in past few years. She gave up her corporate career with Deloitte to pursue her passion for writing.

Balaka also works to raise awareness about Interstitial Cystitis; a rare auto-immune disorder. She is the Founder-President of the non-profit organization Interstitial Cystitis Patient Forum. She regularly conducts workshops for medical practitioners, patients, and the general public to raise awareness about Interstitial Cystitis. She also travels to various National and International Medical Symposiums to speak about this disease.

Balaka did her M.phil in Women’s Studies from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. She also has masters in Comparative Literature and Mass Communication. She lives in Mumbai with her son and husband. She is an avid reader and when she is not juggling with her role as an author, blogger, wife, mother or patient advocate she travels and writes book reviews.
