Jann Seal is a writer and a home cook. She’s been doing both for more years than she wants to admit. Network television and magazines have featured her words, and newspapers have written about her adventures traveling around the world in a Land Rover as well as living in a foreign country and learning that country’s language (British English!)
Cooking classes in Wales (UK) and yearly visits by one of Wales’ best country home cooks (she cooks for aristocracy and royalty,) has expanded and perfected Jann’s recipes, and introduced her to new and creative dishes that the beginner in all of us can easily produce.
Frustrated by following recipes that do not heed to logic, Jann decided to write her own cookbook. Four years and twenty pounds later, her series of books was complete.
Starting with Series One: Desserts, Pastry and Bread, future books will transition into starters, mains, fish and shellfish, veggies, starches and sauces – all recipes that are logically laid out, with ingredients, utensils and tools at the top of each recipe.
The method is step-by-step, with easy to follow instructions. Even the photographs aren’t intimidating - Jann took them herself to show you that perfection is rarely reached the first time. But the dishes still tasted good!
The novice cook won’t be intimidated. The experienced cook will learn new techniques, and both will finally grasp what the difference is between all those different flours found on grocery shelves.
All ingredients are easily accessible – travel to foreign countries to provision isn’t necessary. The “Cooking: It Ain’t Rocket Science” series will make you fall in love with your kitchen and the miracles that come out of it – and the smile on your self-satisfied face as you present you bounty to the table will tell the tale!
