M. B. Landry

M. B. (Madelaine Brauner) Landry was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in August 1955. As children of hard-working parents who never finished high school, she and her siblings accepted the challenge to further their educations. For over two decades, Ms. Landry pursued her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, finally receiving her degree in 2004. She immediately applied to Graduate school for her MS in Communications.

"It is my love for dialogue, narrative and language that always has compelled me to write. As a Communication student, I studied the importance of emotions in our relationships. To know the language of the human heart, to delve into conflict and to see the universality of the human condition -- all of these things begin to matter deeply in my stories. Storytelling is how we change our interpretation of the world around us, as well as the people we live among."

Today, Ms. Landry lives on a 170-acre ranch-farm in SW Louisiana, where she and her husband Tom raise cattle, pigs, chickens, donkeys and honeybees. The couple has five adult children between them and six wonderful grandchildren. She is an online adjunct instructor for four Louisiana universities because writing and teaching are her twin passions.

"I hope to inspire other emerging writers with my first novel. It is terrifying to put your 'offspring' out there, knowing it may be rejected. But writing, while a sacred pursuit, still insists upon being shared. Our stories come to us with characters who are sometimes unloveable, yet we have to honor the voices in our heads."
