Richard Sheppard

Richard Norman Sheppard was born of British parents in Cape Town, The Union of South Africa, in 1952. After schooling, he did an apprenticeship in Lithography and after spending ten years in the Printing Industry; he moved into the Direct Marketing field and became the Book Production Manager of a renowned worldwide company. Remaining in the Direct Marketing field, thirteen years later he moved to Johannesburg to join forces with a well know South African company as their Production Manager.

As a boy aged seven, he learnt to played the drums, and although his father showed him a few fundamentals regarding drumming, he is self-taught. Through the years he gigged and played for many bands as well as performing in many radio and television music programs.

In 2003, he moved to Kent, United Kingdom and in 2014, suffered a dangerous killer disease that affected his lungs. Luck, however, was on his side and he survived but it rendered him incapable of working and put an end to his drumming career. Dick, though, is not a person to mope and although his body, to a degree, will probably no longer function the way it should his brain, however, still functions properly and this is when for the first time in his life he put it to 'good use' for a change and wrote his first novel - Our New Home - which become a trilogy.
