Stephen Brookes

Dr Stephen Brookes QPM was born in Stoke on Trent, England and joined the Royal Navy at the age of 15 serving as a Leading Radio Operator. He joined the Hampshire Constabulary as a Constable later serving 30 years in three UK Police Forces rising to the rank of Chief Superintendent and finally serving as a Regional Government (Home Office) Director. He was awarded the Queens Police Medal in Her Majesty's Jublilee Birthday Honours in 2002 for distinguished police service before joining the University of Manchester as a Senior Fellow in Public Leadership. He is passionate about collective leadership both as an accomplished senior practitioner/leader and as an accomplished international academic. He works very closely with Health and Police services around the world. He completed his long desire of publishing a book on leadership which combines both his experience and his knowledge and talks regularly on its concept of ‘selfless leadership’.
