Rick Ruff was born in Staunton, Virginia in 1946. His family moved to Woodbridge, Virginia when he was just a toddler. While in high school, he advanced his love of photography by becoming the photographer for the school newspaper. As a junior, he went to work for Ed Greenburg at Foto-Rama, which later would become Greenwood Studios. He continued there for the next 54 years, buying out the business in 1976, and honing his craft while becoming a well renowned photographer in Northern Virginia. He lived a full life, capturing glimpses through the lens of his camera, and with his gift of story telling and prose, until his passing in 2018.
