Gary Murrell

‘Alice and the Almigator’, my first children’s book, is a finalist in the 2022 Wishing Shelf Book Awards.

Gary Murrell was born in London but has lived throughout England working in education teaching English and drama and leading schools as a head teacher. Since leaving the profession he has shared most of his time between Northamptonshire and the beautiful Cornish coast.

He now loves to cook, drink red wine, dance at music festivals and enjoy a pint or two with his friends in Cornish pubs. Otherwise he can be found in London supporting his boyhood football team with his son, Matthew.

Gary spent two years living on a canal boat travelling the waterways of Britain during a sabbatical, meeting all sorts of interesting characters and wrote articles for the magazine, 'Waterways World'.

His first book of children's humorous stories about Ollie the cocker spaniel, 'Hooky Cooky Ollie', was published in May 2018 and illustrated by the fabulously talented artist Madhu Greet. His second book set on the Cornish coast called,'Alice and the Almigator', was published in December 2018. It is about a young girl who meets a mythical sea creature and begins to tackle the enormous issue of plastics pollution in our seas.

A Christmas ghost story based on a real Victorian event is due out on Amazon before Christmas 2019.

He also narrates audio books for Audible in any spare time............
