Chris Shugart

Chris Shugart started his career writing radio ad copy for a West Coast retail record distributor. In the years that followed, Chris continued to write ad copy for a variety of industries in different capacities that included agency, in-house, and freelance positions.

In 1993, Chris got into the publishing business where he functioned as an editor, and contributed to the marketing and promotion of the company’s literary properties. When his dad, Al Shugart tried to run his dog Ernest for Congress, Chris became editor and publisher of "The Ernest Voice," the official newsletter of the Friends of Ernest Political Action Committee. Shortly afterwards, Chris founded the American Association of Independent Voters and published political articles on a wide variety of issues.

Between 2003 and 2005, Chris was a member of the editorial staff of the Monterey Bay Blues Festival, where he wrote feature articles on appearing artists, and news stories on the local music scene.
