My name is Emily Armanios, and I am the author of two poetry anthologies: Of Lips and Lashes, & And Sugar Crashes.

What are your books about, anyway?

Of Lips and Lashes is a book comprised of poems. There are poems written in free verse, in iambic pentameter, and some are even haikus! There are just over 100 poems in this book, detailing love, loss, peace and defeat, with each one creating a unique story. The poems are placed in a specific order, but it doesn’t mean that’s the only way you can enjoy it – you can flip to a random page, choose a number that is special to you, or even read it backwards! It’s all about your interpretation, and most of all, how the writing makes you feel.

And Sugar Crashes is the longer, more mature version of the two. There are still poems that rhyme, and that play around with meter and rhythm, but the style evolves into poems about forbidden romance, philosophical musings, and moving through life. There are also beautifully hand-drawn illustrations by an amazing artist and one of my long-time best friends, Yvonne Strover. She does commissions!
