Gina Lee Kim

Originally from San Francisco Bay Area, Gina Lee Kim is a self-taught watercolorist with a nursing and biology background. Gina’s artistic vision is to amaze the eye and empower the heart. In her new book, "Fast & Fun Watercolor Painting Techniques: No Drawing Required” (North Light Books), Gina takes you on a prismatic journey through the color wheel using the beauty of watercolor—enhanced with mixed-media elements—as a freeing artistic approach. Her secret to painting is to let color be the creative and compassionate driving force rather than trying to render a perfect illustration first.

After being published in several magazines, Gina was asked to create four watercolor art lessons for Cloth Paper Scissors (Interweave) and four watercolor workshop DVDs/videos exploring textures, resists, monoprinting and watermedia (Artist Network). She lives north of Chicago with her husband and their young son who's really into space. Her favorite color is cobalt violet.
