Marilyn Blocker MSM MBA

As Managing Principal for Innovation Outcomes, Marilyn Blocker draws on a 30-year background that includes multi-industry leadership and consulting experience. She has met challenges at all stages of the organizational life cycle, in both start-up and mature organizations, and at corporate, division, and business unit levels.

While serving on a variety of senior leadership teams, Marilyn contributed to strategic planning and operational decision making, most recently as Vice President at a Silicon Valley-based high tech incubator site of Royal Philips (formerly Philips Electronics North America Corporation). She functioned previously as one of the founding leaders of a John Hancock Financial Services subsidiary and had also held leadership roles at Providence Health and Services, Verizon Communications (formerly GTE), and The Coca-Cola Company. At Providence Health and Services, she led a successful culture transformation effort and at John Hancock (now Manulife), she helped its First Signature Bank & Trust (FSB&T), a start-up banking subsidiary become the 12th largest VISA gold card distributor in the U.S. only five years after inception.

Marilyn’s blend of experience in quality management, organizational development, and human resources management has enabled her to continually focus on the people, partnerships, and processes that support successful business transformations and sustainable innovation. Her key practice areas include individual and team coaching, leadership development, and change management. She has provided both internal and external consulting services in the public and not-for-profit sectors as well as Fortune 100 and global leaders in technology, healthcare, financial services, consumer products, telecommunications, and manufacturing.

Marilyn graduated with honors from the University of Maryland, where she earned an MBA and an MSM (Master of Science in Management). She also holds a certificate in Executive Management from Cornell University and is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI). She has written for BusinessWeek and the University of Wisconsin, served on executive committees of various not-for-profit and municipal boards, and has spoken at professional association meetings and conferences. Marilyn has also functioned as a guest lecturer, graduate school advisor, and adjunct professor at New York University (NYU), teaching creativity and innovation.
