David Noel Cook

David Cook was born in London and lived there until he was twelve when he and his family moved to Australia. At the age of nineteen he managed to get a job on a Swedish ship and eventually ended up in San Francisco. He met a girl, got married and accidently made money in real estate. David and his wife Marcia fixed up several houses and rode the housing appreciation wave. Then they bought some land and decided to build their own house. David collected materials and his house was designed around these materials which he bought at auctions and from used building materials outlets. He and a helper did about 90% of the work, only hiring two other tradespeople.
