Amy G. Whitney

Amy has been growing vegetables, herbs, fruits, and flowers in her Georgia yard for more than 25 years. Before moving to Georgia, she kept a vegetable garden for two years on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Her gardening experience includes work with a Plant-a-Row-for-the-Hungry garden that “went organic” while she was actively with the group, and helping local community gardens as a guide and trouble-shooting consultant.

Supporting that practical experience are study and research in the form of a degree in Botany and nearly five years of work in horticulture at her county’s Cooperative Extension office.

In addition to writing online for her gardening blog, she speaks about gardening and related topics and gives workshops and classes for her county’s Master Gardener group, for garden clubs, and other interested groups. You can connect with Amy through her website, smallgardennews.com .
