Author Dr. Margaret Reed, a lifelong animal advocate and nationally acclaimed animal training professional, first met President Kennedy and his dogs when she was a little girl on vacation. This meeting in Hyannis Port—along with her dedication to animals—would become the inspiration for her first book, The Dogs of Camelot: Stories of the Kennedy Canines.
Throughout her career, Reed has accumulated a variety of awards for dog training, including numerous AKC titles and public service commendations, and has been recognized for her work with Search and Rescue dogs. She is also an AKC Conformation Judge and is committed to the highest standards in canine training techniques for family companions, Therapy Dogs, and performance animals. Her training work has included projects for law enforcement agencies, television and movie productions, and government officials.
Dr. Reed currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Baker Institute for Animal Health at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She is also a member of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum President’s Council.
