I'm a former United States Marine, born and raised in Michigan. As a child I had epilepsy, which I believe caused my speech impediment. I used to stutter so badly that I hardly talked. I became anti-social, avoiding people or any situation that required me to speak. Of course, as an introvert, I stayed in the house reading while my siblings went out to play. Books were my "safe place."
Reading expands the mind- especially so in children- and it wasn't long before I began thinking, dreaming and eventually, writing. I remember my sixth grade teacher grading one of my reports and telling me that I would grow up to become a famous writer. Naturally, I thought she was insane. I wanted to be a famous guitar player or doctor. Little did I know.
Life somehow took me in a different direction and I found myself alone most of the time with nothing to do but read, With no family or friends, I was an island unto myself and I read until my eyes could read no more. I never considered myself a writer and still don't, but I had a story inside me that I knew I had to get out. That led to me writing the semi-autobiographical "Mike Canada: COLDBLOODED." Now, with over 60 titles completed, I am a celebrated author, public speaker, and the CEO of Samarian Publishing Company. Life is beautiful. The lesson for me was simple: Life is about PURPOSE. I found mine and encourage all of you to do likewise.
