Having enjoyed writing since childhood, it wasn't until I retired from full-time employment with the NHS that I began to work at the craft seriously. I write in many genres but my greatest love is the novel. My first four novels have all been published by Author Way and No 5 is now available from Amazon in both ebook and paperback versions.

Although a romantic at heart, my books aren't purely love stories. My characters face challenges and grapple with major issues, some of which readers may have experienced in their own lives.

'Vina's Quest', 'Maddie' and 'The Clock Chimed Midnight' are set in the 20th century and Rutherglen in South Lanarkshire features in all of them, with two of the books having parts in Australia. As a Ruglonian the town means a lot to me but I've also worked and spent holidays in the Antipodes, both Australia and New Zealand. I adore the countries and their people, so I enjoy setting my scenes there.

My fourth book 'Who Were You?' was set in New Zealand. The story takes place in the 21st century. Although not a sequel to, there is a connection with an earlier book, but you will need to read the novels to find out what that is!! That book was published in February 2020, and I held a book signing in Rutherglen Library ten days prior to the first Coronavirus lockdown. How's that for timing! The book has been well received and I'm delighted that so many readers enjoyed the story.

This inspired me, during the lockdowns and restrictions over the past two years, to write my fifth book 'Ginger'. As I have a male main character this time and the story is set in the 19th century, it has been both challenging and satisfying to do research into the period. Set in Australia, the story starts in1847 on a convict ship and finishes just after World War I.
