The author Philip Scudieri is an internationally acclaimed martial arts instructor with nearly 5 decades of experience. Scudieri Hanshi holds 8th Degree Black Belts/Menkyo in Japanese Kenjutsu(swordsmanship)and Kobu-do(Weapons/Ways of Ancient Samurai) from the All Japan Budo Federation and Nippon Seibukan Dojo; the National Governing Body for Budo in Japan. Along with Black Belts in Karate and Tae Kwon Do, the author studied Kyudo/Japanese archery for 16 years with the Miyako Dojo and under Kanjiro Shibata XX, archers and bow makers to the Imperial House.
Hanshi is Chief Representative for Edo Machi-kata Taiho Jutsu, an international group specializing in law enforcement methods and techniques of the Samurai.
Hanshi was featured demonstrating the Naginata of the Itto Tenshin Ryu in the 2017 book:"Modern Masters of the Martial Arts: Actions and Insights into the Classical Fighting Styles" by David Nemeroff.
Scudieri Hanshi was featured in the new book, American Masters and Pioneers; Who's Really Who in the Martial Arts, by Grand Master Jesse Bowen. Hanshi led the U.S. Nippon Seibukan Delegation from the Delaware Budokan to the All Japan Grand Nationals in Kyoto, Japan in Sept 2017. They were awarded "Best Performance" by the Mayor of Kyoto. The first Americans to do this in 26 years. He will be leading the US Delegation back in 2022.
Mr. Scudieri has been a musician his whole life. He has written, produced and published many songs. The title track from his album, Paulette Tyler "How I Feel About You" is an integral part woven throughout the story Ronin Knight and was recorded with some of the finest musicians and vocalists in Nashville TN.
