Antoinette Foxworthy

My interest in reading and writing started at a young age. I published my first poem in seventh grade. Although I continued to write throughout high school and college my focus changed to the medical field, then raising a family. My career attention changed to human resources and I became editor-in-chief of the corporate newsletter. With this exposure, many people encouraged me to pursue my talent of writing. While on vacation in Victoria, British Columbia with my head swirling with a dream of becoming a prolific writer, I spotted a peaceful lawn setting from the fourth-floor turret at Craigdarroch Castle. (https://thecastle.ca/) Leaving the castle, I discovered that the lawn I had enjoyed from the turret was the side yard of the adjacent house. I thought, “If ever I’m going to pursue my writing, wouldn’t that be the ideal place.” The house was for sale.

After seeking advice from my mother who told me “It’s not the things I’ve done in my life that I regret, rather the things that I didn’t do,” I bought the house, quit my job, and moved to pursue my craft. While living in Victoria I self-published a children’s book and wrote short stories which were used as writing examples in high school classrooms throughout Victoria. In addition to writing I opened up Antoinette’s Bed and Breakfast so that others could enjoy the tranquil setting of my 1913 home in the shadow of the castle. My old house has been purchased and renovated by the Craigdarroch Society. It is now housing the gift shop, state of the art artifact storage, offices, and an area for meetings. I had the pleasure of returning to my former house and reading from my novel, No More in my prior bedroom.

When I retired from all of her former careers, I joined a writing group. During this writing class I wrote and shared the first chapter of No More. My instructor and fellow students encouraged me to continue the story. No More was released in November 2017. In addition to my novel I have written and published award-winning poetry and short stories.

I enjoy reading, writing and spending time with my grandchildren. I practice yoga, enjoy my garden, and love traveling with my husband, Steve. I am well known for My Perspective pictures of my travels.

My newest children's book, Caterpillar, Rabbit and Fox started with a chance meeting at a bingo group. I met an artist, Priscilla Walker. The two of us worked non-stop on this book, releasing it to the public after nine months. I'm thrilled with the results from the story to the beautiful artwork. The "lessons" in the book will be enjoyed by all ages.
