Hello, and thank you for taking the time to stop by my Author's Page. I'm eager to share a little about myself in hopes of becoming your favorite author. I am a native New Yorker raised in Brownsville Brooklyn, known as one of the toughest areas in the city. To avoid the trappings of the streets, I became an avid reader at a young age. It wasn't long before I began writing and telling stories. For as long as I can remember, I've always loved inspiring, encouraging, and motivating others through storytelling. Those are the three elements I try to weave into all of my stories. Whether I'm writing poetry, short stories, an urban fiction or dramatic novel, mystery, horror, or even a children's tale, I try to pour these elements into the project.
I have been blessed to win quite a few writing awards, act on some stages, write and produce some incredible stage productions in New York City, and have worked with many celebrities that I've admired growing up. I hope to do more of that soon. However, writing has always been my first love. I'm grateful to God for the talent and ability to write.
I love to answer questions from my readers:
When did you start writing: I think I came out of the womb writing. I must have been like, "Give me that Birth Certificate, I'll sign it." Lol, I remember being a young lad in Elementary school. Whenever my teacher would instruct the class to write a one or two-page essay, I would write five to ten pages. I didn't know it then, but I later learned that I was born to write!
How do you come up with ideas for your stories: I believe all of the stories that I write are divinely inspired. Even the ones that don't seem to have moral restraints placed around the concept and characters. Also, there are real-life experiences from which I think every writer draws. Plus there are tons of interesting people that we all come in contact with daily; a giggle or sway of the hip may spark some inspiration for a story. It's all divine.
Do you need to be in a particular mood to write: Yes. I love sitting in a quiet space that allows me to relax. When I'm in a calm area, I can feel my mind's eye open wide. It's like being in a big black room, and all of the darkness becomes my canvas. There is where I begin to imagine and paint the picture in my head. It's where that spark that I mentioned earlier becomes the light of creation. It is in that place that I begin to see the faces of my characters hear their voices and smell their surroundings. Everything starts to take shape.
Do you have a favorite snack while writing: Yes, A mug of hot Ginger Tea sweetened with Raw Manuka Honey and a few slices of buttered Rye or Pumpernickel bread.
Do you have a favorite time to Write: Yes. Very late at night. The air is more cooling at night. I love the crisp air. It energizes me, and I feel like I'm my sharpest when I'm the temperature is between 60 to 70 degrees.
Well, it's time to get back to writing. I hope you enjoyed this tidbit about me. Please check out my books, make a purchase, and enjoy the journey.
