Alyssa N. Griego

Alyssa N. Griego is a Queer Chicana multimedia performing artist, writer, and director based in Los Angeles. At the age of sixteen she began writing and performing spoken-word to cope with depression. Later she began merging spoken-word and film together to promote social change and highlight her family’s experiences. Quickly after she was invited to be a guest speaker for multiple events and Chicana/o Studies courses to inspire others to create their own art. In the midst of it all she transitioned into writing screenplays.

After graduating from UCLA where she studied History, Chicana/o Studies, and Film/T.V. she was accepted into the Outset film fellowship where she wrote/directed the short film So(u)l, which premiered at the Outfest LGBT Film Festival.

Alyssa is now preparing to release an experimental short film and poetry book Sad Girl, Strong Woman March 28th. The project promotes empowerment for women, provides visibility for survivors of sexual assault, and examines the spiritual journey of self love.

Alyssa is also a reiki practitioner and a spiritual coach.
