K.D. Carter discovered the magic of the written word at a very young age. She remembers sitting under a tree at her grandmother's house, reading Grimm's Fairy Tales before she started 1st Grade. In her high school years she discovered the historical fiction of Victoria Holt, and the fantasy writing of Mary Stewart and J.R.R. Tolkien. After graduating she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in England for two years. While in England she toured Europe as much as possible, spending time in Scotland, Wales, Sweden and Norway, soaking up the history and culture of Northern Europe.
K.D. published her first book, Talamk an Eisc: Nordic Landing," in 2017, which she describes as historical fantasy. The story is based on the historical account of Vikings in Newfoundland, and is the first of a four-part Celtic Rings series. Her second book, "The Death Doll," was published in May 2018. It is her first historical fiction, set in Durham, New Hampshire during the Salem witch trials. Her latest book, "The Saving Blade," is the second book in the Celtic Rings series, focusing on the character Brenna and the native Talmanuk people. She is currently writing a science fiction fantasy, and an untitled book about Celtic tribes in Ireland in 500 B.C. She expects to publish her next two books around Christmas 2019.
