David Kreps was born and grew up in London, UK, in 1963. His first love was the theatre, and he performed in, directed, and wrote plays and poetry until his early 30s, when he moved into the office to run Arts Centres. Turning his hand to code in 1995 David made probably the first Arts Centre website in the UK. Moving from Arts Management into Academia, at the turn of the century, it was the Information Systems field that attracted him, albeit his Bachelors degree in Theatre & Arts Management was now supplemented with an MA Cultural Studies and a PhD Sociology. He is now based at the National University of Ireland, Galway, and is Chair of the International Federation for Information Processing's Technical Committee 9 on ICT and Society.
