Mark Lemon

Mark Lemon (1809-1870) is best known for editing Punch, or the London Charivari from 1843 until his death in 1870. Under his leadership, the magazine -- which featured humorous and satirical pieces, and comic illustrations -- achieved remarkable popular success in Victorian Britain. Lemon was also an amateur actor and prolific writer, and produced numerous pieces of drama, music, poetry, journalism, and fiction.
