Betsy de Thierry

Betsy has pioneered three charities and two other organisations to help those who have experienced trauma. Betsy is passionate about her Trauma Recovery Focused Model (TRFM), which those organisations partner with and many other charities partner with as a framework to be trauma-informed and recovery-focused. She has trained over 40,000 professionals across 36 nations in the model. Subsequently, there are many projects to see children, young people, and their families find restoration in the face of their difficulties, find support in the isolation of their struggles, and find care and love in the harshness of life formed and founded based on her influence and theories. She passionately believes that we should be working in a trauma recovery focused approach rather than a 'behaviour management' or medical model approach.

Betsy is a psychotherapist, a qualified primary school teacher and a highly specialised trauma recovery specialist who is highly sought after to train and consult for professionals all over the globe.

Trauma Recovery Global which is her training and consultancy organisation supports and trains professionals and families who live and work with traumatised children and adults across the world. There is a 10 or 12 day certificate, a 10 day and 5 day certificate that is online and in person. Therapeutic rooms within schools have pioneered using the model effectively in a school setting, with the support of therapeutic mentors working alongside trauma trained psychotherapists.

Betsy is a consultant for organisations across the world who need help with traumatised children and young people and loves to work in Africa where she was born.

She is also a mum of four sons who range from 28 to 16 years old and loves nothing more than meals together as a family of six plus wives and girlfriends! She is a doctoral research student researching the impact of trauma on leaders.
