I am the founder of the Southeastern Literary Tourism Initiative, an innovative project that encourages authors to use real tourism attractions as unique settings in their fiction. My novel Blind Fate was recognized in USA Today for being the first tourism novel to introduce readers to real attractions found within the fiction as settings and through an interactive tourism guide inside the book. SELTI's annual tourism short story contests have awarded thousands of dollars to tourism writers, who have been recognized by Congress for their achievements in tourism fiction. I invite all writers to jump into tourism fiction and learn how to invite their readers to experience the excitement of literally stepping into the settings of a novel or short story.
